"My work deals with the sense of estrangement and isolation in our urban world.

In these interiors of museums and institutional spaces the familiar becomes strange. Although the traces of people are everywhere through paintings, objects and furniture, an explicit human presence is rare, so that there is a melancholy vacancy to the scenes. They are like an empty stage set waiting for the play to start.
It is strange that the scenes I imagine in my paintings have now become a fact of everyday life. The only inhabitants of these spaces now are the inanimate objects. This is how they would look if we were a fly on the wall today." Eithne Jordan, www.eithnejordan.ie
